Seeing as how i'm on the hunt for a new pair of Converse trainers, on monday i headed on down/over/upto the young people's quartier - Les Halles.
I think i would best describe it as being the french equivalent of Carnaby street in London with the same kind of little boutiques, scummy looking burger joints and pokey, tawdry side streets but without the same chutzpah.
I have to admit that i just find it pretty grotty and down at heel ... not to mention the aggressive teenagers in jeans with the waist halfway down to their ass and the crotch dangling between the knees ... all the while buzzing people on skateboards.
Does the local racaille *to coin a phrase* see what we see, i wonder ...
Not getting anywhere with my sudden urge to buy something and starting to feel like a bit of a browned off old oldie, i went for a wander around the nearby Tuileries and sat down for a few hours in front of the St Eustache church.
