The weekend
It's been another hectic week with quite a few visits out to see my clients. I'm happy organising stuff over the phone and by e-mail, but it is nice to be able to sit down with people and really have a good old chat.
Yesterday though, i had to go to this thing :
It's a once a year salon for companies working in professional training services.
The title says - Had enough of your job ? Fancy evolving ? Boost your career ! - it's interesting in the sense that Boulot = Job in english and has quite a pejorative notion to it.
This year, the salon took place in the same hall where a few weeks ago they held the salon de l'agriculture ... and by the smell of the place, i reckon the cleaners must have been on strike: lots of ... euhhm .. country smells if you know what i mean.
The usual suspects were all there; big schools and colleges and lots of what we call in our lingo 'OPCA's' (these are the people that companies 'give' money to, so that they don't have to pay for training needs themselves).
Obviously my lot were also present, with yours truly having to participate - only for the half day though. It's not particularly interesting, and very little usually comes out of it, it's seen as a waste of time by most of us as we could be doing useful stuff at work.
However this year, and lucky for me, there were a few stands that kind stood out from the ordinary.
Like this one :
Grapholgy is big news over here and is quite often used for recrutment purposes - although i'm sure it frowned on- I was tempted to have my own little analyse done ( at 10 euros a throw).
Just like these people :
One of the nicest stands was the flower arranging one - call me thick, but i really thought that flower arranging was the kind of thing that you just kinda blagged your way into .. i didn't think there really were flower arranging schools !!
So given that it is spring and all that:
I finished at about 1pm and left my collegues to it.
