I translate it so you don't have to :-)
We're still a year away from the next presidential elections and there is growng momentum for Ségolène Royal to stand as the candidate for the left.
However, she created a minor kerfuffle on friday when she said that young delinquants should be sent off to boot camp.
The party leader (and her husband) - who has already said that it's not the personality but the project that will swing it - has distanced himself from her comments, likewise Martine Aubry , the ancient employment minister has privately warned her against using the same kind of language as our favorite villain - Sarkozy - and to focus her message on equality.
At last nights packed meeting in Lille, Royal defended her position saying 'since when has the military - the police, the firemen and soldiers - never been socialist' : she recieved a huge round of applause by every one except Aubry .... schisme in the party on the horizon ?
A part form that, the press here is pretty much focused on Montenegro, voting for independance and the creation of it's new parliament.
The Yurpeen Younyun has issued a formal communiqué that it will respect the wishes of the people (!!) ... the reason being that the independantistas won by 55.5% of the vote - the winning level had been set at 55%.
Equally, The Tcheque republic elections have been won by the right but without a majority - stand by for a replay of the Italian elections.
Clearstream has been wiped off the front pages by the internationals at Roland Garros - Chi chi and Co must be a happy bunch of campers - and yesterdays huge match played by Paul Henri Mathieu against Rafa Nadal - 5 Hours of some of the best tennis we've seen in a long time. It could have gone the french guys way but he just got overpowered in the fourth.
I'm waiting now to see how Amelie Mauresmo fares against Nicole Vaidisova (16th) ... she should get through that one and meet either Venus Williams or Patty Schnyder ... which then leaves us the prospect of a Safina / Mauresmo in the semis.
Le Monde picks up an interesting story "A thousand spys" which looks at the new system we have here for the underground system - you don't need to have a ticket, but a special electronic swipe type card. The makers have included RFID which allows them to trace your movements around the system.
The french take on the world cup is very low key. We've had problems at the start of the week when there were handbags at dawn - almost - between the N°1 and N° 2 goalkeepers.
It's the first time ever that the trainer has been able to get all of his squad assembled together for a whole three weeks before a major competition, so i guess it's normal that egos clang into each other.
Everyone here is saying that Brazil, Germany or England will win and that France has a snowballs chance in hell ....
I say watch out for Franck Ribery - he's going to explode in the same way that Roonster did in 2002.
:-)
