News dump

Way over there

There was me thinking that Thursday was a very special day in the U.S ... how wrong i was ... it's not : it's Sunday !!!

According to various sources : as of Sunday, the conflict in Iraq has raged for three years and just over eight months.

Only the Vietnam War (eight years, five months), the Revolutionary War (six years, nine months), and the Civil War (four years), have engaged America longer.

Meanwhile, more grim reading courtesy of the times - the ability to effect political developments in the region has been nullified ...

Reuters has picked up on an El Pais interview with Former U.S. Army Brigadier General Janis Karpinski - "The handwritten signature was above his printed name and in the same handwriting in the margin was written: "Make sure this is accomplished" ... put simply, dear ol' Rummy, sanctions, then outsources torture - That's pretty ironic, given that suppossedly the original idea was to get rid of a bad guy who tortures his own people ...

By the way, this is the same guy whose office (the Pentagon) feels that Veterans for peace is a threat to national security ...

Whoaaa stop, wait-up a minute .... We know that the U.S administration lied and deceived its way (and almost all of the english speaking world with it, to boot) into a bogus war with it's striking imagery : smoking mushroom clouds, unmanned drones capable of dusting U.S cities with that stuff we keep telling you to prove that you don't have hidden in the basement not to mention ...

So why not just throw the bums out ?

Y'know, the "I" word.

One would have thought that the Democratic party would have jumped on the occasion for restoring law and order to their country ... apprently not so.

On 60 minutes, Nancy is still saying that Impeachement "Is off the table" ... and yet to coin a phrase, it's "a slam dunk"

Just over there

A quick transatlantic transition over to dear old Blighty ....

Evidently, the other fool is all cock a hoop about the Russian guy who was bumped off / topped himself / sniffed what he thought to be the best colombian marching powder ...

Whatever the outcome, this has given the toadybrit press a nice little "Threat to homeland security so be ready to be very very scared by that very very nice man in N° 10" angle.

The Observer kicks off the dance with : Spy death linked to nuclear thefts .. the Observer of all places ... pffft

But .. when all is said and done, it's a great time to bury bad news. To whit : New 2012 row as bill for Olympics Stadium nears £500m, MP demands to see Butler inquiry testimony that exposes government 'deceit' in Iraq war build-up, support for Scottish independence has reached 52% among Scots and 59% in England,

Over here

The news in France has been dominated by Segoléne Royal's nomination to be the socialist party's candidate for the 2007 presidential elections.

"Is France ready for a Woman president ?" The most recurring question / title seen on news stands throughout the country. A strawpoll at work this week indicates to me that yes, almost to a voice, people at my work place will be voting for her, no matter what.

A quick look at an official IFOP poll tells us that she obtains the highest support from blue collar workers, manual labour employees, mid level managers .. but slips to 45% support with senior managers. Conclusion : Ségo is the candidate of "La France d'en bas' ...

A second poll by CEVIPOF , however, comes to a different conclusion : the participative democracy proned by Royal, is not that much of a priority for the 'working classes' - it's something very much adhered to by the intellectuel ellites. The popular vote feels much closer to Jean-marie Le Pen.

Fuck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That's not all ... from today's Figaro, Le Pen will gain 17% of the vote in 150 days time (he was at 9% at the same point before the 2002 elections). However, if he didn't stand this would aid the probable ruling party - UMP - candidate who would obtain 37% of the vote and would create a tie with Ségo.

Fuck Fuck Fuck !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If he does stand, the UMP candidate would obtain 29% against 32% for Ségo.

We need a dirty tricks campaign here.

No, over here we don’t know that the U.S administration lied and deceived its way into a bogus war. The people who “allege” that are our local axes of evil: The Liberal Media, Hollywood people (Jews) and Pro-Choice monsters. Anything that is said here against bush is considered antipatriotic. Patriotism here is a scary thing. We are so far from a change, it’s tragic. We the democrats are literally demonized. I mean, we murder babies for fun, you know. And no one is ready to take a stand so close to a presidential election. Who are our best people then? Hillary Clinton (no one will vote for a woman here, not even women. Good luck to Segolene, maybe things are different in France.) and Barrack Obama (no one will vote for a black man either.) I’ll try to look for an upside to this. I need an upside!

When i think back to 2003 there were five or six of us saying that the us & uk gov'mints were going to get found out and called to account (we were all listening attentively to the conflicting stories of Blix / UN etc).

Look where we are now - the people have had their chance 'to speak at the polls' ...

Either the whole voting procedure is fixed ( i really think it is as there's too much at stake) or people have truly become sheeplike.

As i'm typing, the bbc is reporting that 'american style, optical voting machines could be introduced for the 2007 May elections' ....

Tonight, french T.V had a stomach turning characterisation of the anti-pope protests in Turkey ...

Scary stuff
