For the record : as the title of my little blogue suggests, i am indeed british (un rosbif, pour les intimes) but i have a very good command of french - all be it with a Jane Birkin accent ( Ü.S visitors won't get the joke .. but what the hey).

My colleagues are 50/50 english, my clients are 99% french - i have little other choice than to speak french and to do so more or less correctly.

For our overseas breathren - soccer = football over here.

Every four years there is a communion between les amants du ballon rond (pfft ..lovers of the round ball .. it get's tiring, all this translating stuff)

As far as the current edition of la coupe du monde goes - i'm convinced France will win tomorrow against Brazil 2/1, with a goal in the first half (35th minute, Malouda) puis, an equaliser by Ribiero off of a free kick by Juninhio (52nd minute) and Henry, served by Ribery, will embark on a run and dribble, at the 72 minute mark.

Whereupon France will sit on the ball for a tense 15 or so minutes.

England / France for the semis.

For a place against Italy.
