What a sad case i am ... it's Christmas day night, i'm slowly, very painfully, digesting the fact that yet another year has fleet footedly passed me by, sans progress being made on any fronts ...
I'm getting ready for w**k tomorrow whilst listening to a BBC programme about the origins of the NATO alphabet, Alpha, Bravo Charlie etc ... out of interest, i went for a whizz over to the Wiki page.
Being pleasantly entertained, as i am, by the whole thing ... when low and behold, i get to the end of the page where i stumble upon the stuff about the 'f-word' ... a few clicks further on and i'm here.
Under the etymology part; i've just discovered - to my uneducated dismay - that quite probably, the "fucking under consentment of the king" acronym was just an urban myth ... *my walls of understanding are a crumblin' dowwwwwwn*
Héhéhéhé !!
The first ever use of the word dates back to the 1500's in latin and the derivitives in spanish, portugais, french and so on all have obvious common roots.
I've just read that French Connection are going to phase out the 'fcuk' range ... i'm going to start buying up their t-shirts, me !! ;)
I'm checking out the contextual usage forms ... i've got to say though, "Fuckshitdamn", will never, ever, replace the "fuckshitwankpissbollocks" catchall phrase for us brits.
My cup runneth over ... almost.
:@)
