Rampant Rabbit vibrator robber jailed for five years

A cheeky robber raided a bookmaker's shop with his girlfriend's Rampant Rabbit vibrator.

But Judge Philip Head was not too tickled by the antics of 27-year-old Nicki Jex' and slammed him behind bars for five years.

Jex hid his partner's sex toy in a carrier bag and pretended it was a gun during the raid on Ladbrokes shop in Leincester, England.

A member of staff at the Narborough Road branch parted with more than £600 ($1,189) in cash when he pointed it at her.

But it was a case of bad vibrations for defendant Jex when he got caught and ended up in the slammer.

Sentencing him to five years, Judge Head said: "It's right to record that you did not have a firearm."But you pretended you had and intended that those you confronted believed that you did, and it must have been truly terrifying for them at the time."

The court heard that the cashier handed over £613 ($1,214) in till contents and other money to Jex.As the Rampant Rabbit raider made his escape, the shop's only remaining customer, Wayne Vakani, followed him and tracked him to a nearby pub.

Jex pointed the vibrator in the bag at Mr Vakani and warned him to back off.

Mr Vakani kept a discreet distance but he also kept an eye on the vibrator bandit and watched where he went.

Thanks to Mr Vakani, Jex's hat, worn in the robbery and containing his DNA, was discovered nearby.

When Jex - a drug addict with a string of previous convictions - was arrested he denied any involvement in the robbery, but changed his plea later.

The judge awarded Mr Vakani £500 ($990) for his "very considerable courage".
